League leaders before the weekend, Manchester City suffered a second
consecutive league defeat on Saturday as they were on the wrong end of a
4-1 mauling at White Hart Lane.
Those two defeats came after an
11-game winning streak for Manuel Pellegrini’s charges, with City
shipping more goals in the two losses (also 1-2 v West Ham) than in
those previous 11 victories combined (four goals). The result was also
City’s heaviest Premier League defeat since a 0-3 loss to Liverpool back
in April 2011.
As for Tottenham, they’ve now won three
successive Premier League games for the first time since February. The
game also saw England hitman Harry Kane finally end his 12 hour 28
minute goal-drought, with his goal (Spurs’ third of the game), the 150th
in the top-tier overall this season.
