Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey and Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy have been rewarded for good early season form with call-ups to the England squad to face San Marino and Switzerland.
Former
Liverpool star Shelvey won his only Three Lions cap against San Marino
in 2012 but has been recalled by manager Roy Hodgson following a string
of impressive performances for the Welsh side, who defeated Manchester
United on Sunday.
Vardy has scored two goals in four games thus
far this season, and was previously selected in the squad for the
friendly clash with the Republic of Ireland.
The Three Lions, who will be led by captain Wayne Rooney, can qualify for Euro 2016 with victories in both clashes.
